Sustainability at Deleum

By fostering positive change and leading sustainability initiatives across our business segments, we recognise that our most valuable asset—our people—will serve as the primary catalyst for propelling the Group to new heights.
Ramanrao bin Abdullah Group Chief Executive Officer
Deleum is committed to sustainability across all our operations, integrating it into every decision guided by our EESG Pillars. Whether advancing in green solutions, enhancing transparency in our reporting, or investing in our employees and making a meaningful difference in our community, our commitment extends beyond these goals. We drive innovation, robust environmental stewardship, and strong social responsibility. By prioritizing these values, we strive to build a lasting, positive legacy for future generations.

OUR PROGRESS

Highlights: Climate Change and Emissions

Deleum has adopted Operational Control as the consolidation approach. For consistency, this approach shall be applied consistently across all entities level and reporting scopes (Scope 1 and Scope 2). Under operational control, Deleum is required to account for 100% of the GHG emissions over which it has operational control. For clarity, Deleum does not account for GHG emissions from operations in which it owns an interest but does not have operational control in Malaysia.
The emission sources identified for direct GHG emissions include:  (i) Stationary Combustion from equipment like generators, power packs, air packs, and welding machines; (ii) Mobile Combustion from On-road Vehicles: Company-owned cars, vans, and trucks; Non-road Vehicles from Company-owned forklifts; and (iii) Fugitive Emissions which leaks from air conditioning systems in offices, warehouses, workshops, and fire protection equipment.
Notes: In 2024, our GHG baseline year has been revised from 2019 to 2023, to reflect the significant projects and adopting new methodologies of ISO14064:1. This includes:
  • 1 Our Scope 1 and 2 figures for FY2021 to FY2023 have been restated as correction of error;
  • 2 Our Scope 1 and 2 figures for FY2023 have been verified by independent third party, BSI Malaysia with accordance with ISO14064-1: 2018, at a materiality threshold of 5%. The Verification Opinion Statement can be viewed here;
    and
  • 3 Our GHG Intensity and Energy Efficiency for FY2021, FY2022 and FY2023,  have been restated as correction of error.
  • Deleum is working to set a quantitative targets to reduce or avoid pollution (GHG emissions – CO2, N2O, CH4)

ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND HONOURS

Our Approach to Sustainability

OUR REPORTING FRAMEWORK AND STANDARDS

Our Sustainability Statement has been prepared in accordance to Global Reporting Initiative (“GRI”) Standards, guided by Bursa Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Guide (3rd Edition) and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (“TCFD”).

OUR SUSTAINABILITY GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

The Sustainability Governance Structure establishes a clear tone from the top approach to drive sustainability across the Group in line with our mission, vision, and core values.

Ultimately, it allows effective oversight on sustainability topics including climate change-related matters, business and operational risks that enables the integration of the sustainability agenda into daily business operations.

Our Materiality

Materiality assessments are vital for our value-creation journey as we identify the sustainability issues that matter most to our business and stakeholders. Conducting a materiality assessment allows us to identify opportunities and mitigate risks to ensure sustainable business growth.

In our most recent sustainability materiality assessment, we identified 13 sustainability matters that are material to both our business and our stakeholders.

GUIDING SUSTAINABILITY POLICIES

Deleum has developed a set of comprehensive policies to address our EESG material topics.
